  1. Competitors shed all political barriers and its really a beautiful thing to see.

Rivalries forge some of the best friendships.

  2. Ok hear me out. We hold a winner takes all ping pong match South vs North Korea match. Either way it’s reunification day!

  3. This is such a lovely picture. This kind of moment is the true intention of Olympics I guess.

  4. This is what I love about the Olympics! The opportunity for all countries to come together and compete with each other and show great sportsmanship through it all. I’m an American and cheer for Team USA, but I also cheer for athletes from all around the world and I love seeing them win!

  5. Fun fact the South Korean male now can avoid the mandatory 18-month military service because he earned a bronze medal.

  6. I’m from South Korea and this made me cry in a bathroom at work, idk why because I dont even care that much about them in general. But I wish with not just North Koreans but people from other countries we can live in harmony, though I fully understand it is fucking hard with the leaders we have globally

  7. One of the very few times that North and South Koreans aren’t forced to hate each other. These feelgood stories are what we love most at the Olympics.

  8. I’m sad they don’t march together anymore. I know it was always just a symbol–but it was a beautiful wish and it’s sad to see even the wish gone.

  9. As far as I heard, when Atheletes from South korea and North korea meet at an international sports competition, they are friendly to each other. Especially South koreans. As the South Korean government does not restrict South Korean athletes from interacting with North Korean athletes. Whereas North koreans tend to be cautious. Athletes from South and North Korea sometimes joke with each other, have brief conversations, and cheer each in competitions. South Korean athletes somtimes share food with North Korean athletes. Despite the hostile relationship between the South Korean government and the North Korean regime, ordinary citizens quietly feel a sense of familiarity when they meet abroad. We are the same people and are curious about each other. Someday, I hope that permanent peace will come to this land so that everyone can live together happily without suffering from poverty and oppression.

  10. Loved watching this sport. Such intensity and athleticism. Was hoping PRK could upset the top ranked Chinese team in the final. Congrats to all medalists.

  11. Beautiful photo, at the end of the day we are all humans. Let’s not let politics divide us

  12. Super wholesome moment. I wonder if the DPRK athletes get time to mingle and socialize during the Olympics when they aren’t actively competing.

  13. I was streaming North Korean channel during the match and they were not telecasting that match. Seriously?!?

  14. Everyone has to take a selfie with that phone.

Seen loads of people do it with that same phone.

  15. Beautiful thing. Truly hope nothing happens to the north korean players because of this though

  16. This is why the Olympics must stay away from politics. Seeing athletes from different countries happily gathering together to take photos makes me really happy. They all trained hard and sacrificed a lot for this one medal. They deserve all the wonderful things. Congratulations.

  17. Aren’t they required to take these selfies as part of Samsung’s sponsorship of the games? I’ve seen it on every swimming podium and it’s given to the Bronze medallist by an assistant off camera right after the anthem finishes.
