French satirical account is updating an “almost-medalist” table for athletes that placed 4th/5th/6th and I’m starting to feel sorry for the Italians because they are dominating

  1. I’m serious when say I’m glad someone’s tracking this, interesting stuff!

  2. Seven 4ths and only two 5ths is so British lol

We always top the moral table though

  3. As an Italian I can say we went through way more nightmares than dreams during these Olympics ,many of us could easily have to confess even if atheist for the blasphemies we said after each flop

Either we get sabotaged (judo) or we are embarrassingly underperforming (fencing) during the important matches

The worse thing is that we are losing medals in our “specialized” Fields (again)

  4. We are not even doing good in this category. In all honesty there is somewhat of a panic amongst the Dutch. In the real “medal table” we are still at zero. Granted most of sports that the Dutch are expected to medal in are still to come but we are the only country with over 200 participants without a medal sofar let alone a gold one.

Plain bad luck or the Van de Velde-curse!?

  5. As an Italian I can safely say we are living way too many nightmares during these Olympics ,and the fact that it is in France makes it even worse

We are Also NOT really happy about the results on the medal table We know statistically in like 2 days we lost something like 5/6 medals that should have been easy

  6. And now you understand why so many would easily call for conspiracy, a sadly amount of those 8th fourth places came out with opinabile referring

  7. The one that really hurts is Rugby 7s for both the Men and Women. How did we get completely shut out of the medals there?

  8. It’s funny (or not) that this table is still dominated by countries that place on the actual medal table (i.e. the Olympic powers). I would have thought some of the non traditional medal countries would sneak in there.

  9. Actual Medals from here:

    Italy: 11 (3/4/4)
    UK: 12 (4/5/3)
    China: 14 (6/6/2)
    Germany: 2 (2/0/0)
    Canada: 6 (2/2/2)
    Australia: 11 (6/4/1)
    South Korea:: 11 (5/3/3)
    US: 26 (4/11/11)
    France: 18 (5/9/4)
    Netherlands: 0 (0/0/0)

  10. Interesting to see is that Japan is not on the list, which implies they have pretty much turned all their potential into medals.

  11. We made sure not to make finals anymore. That way we land on neither of the tables

  12. GB doing OK for medals but some of those 4th places were tough:

Tarling got a puncture and missed out on Bronze by 2 seconds in Cycling Road Time Trial.

Duncan Scott missed out on Bronze in 200m Freestyle by 8/100 secs after missing out on Gold by 4/100 secs in Tokyo.

Max Litchfield 4th by 19/100 secs in men’s 400m individual medley.

Freya Colbert 4th by 27/100 secs in women’s 400m individual medley (in her first ever Oympics)

And both GB Gymnastics teams came 4th, the women by 0.2 points.

  13. So it is a common feeling that your country continuously gets shafted by finishing 4th/5th? It’s not just us right?

  14. The Sickos Committee (an American College Football meme page) is doing something similar, tracking the “Aluminum Medal” count for fourth-place finishers.
