Everyone watching race walking for the first time

  1. I just learned today that it’s actually “normal”

Everyone cheats if you pause, but if you can’t see it naturally then it’s fine. Not sure how I feel about this sport, but then hey, no one forcing me to watch haha

  2. Literally the only episode of that show I remember. I know I watched it quite a bit but this one lives in my head for some reason.

  3. And sometimes, you can see some of them actually doing it right.

I feel sorry for those. Imagine finding out you lose because the judges are giving the bad people a pass.

  4. I think they should have sensors in their shoes that are linked to together and report if neither is in contact. It shouldn’t be that expensive or complicated so they could be used for training even at quite a low level. Once it was the norm all the debate would go away (a bit like electronic sensors in Fencing).

…Yes this is my first time watching Race walking and (per OP) yes I’m busy drafting a letter to the IAAF *Race Walking Committee*.

  5. It’s so funny how some people seem to completely lose it when it comes to race walking. 😂

  6. It is immediately obvious to anyone with eyes that it is a complete farce of an event, competitors know it, spectators know it, my cat knows it. The only people who apparently don’t know it are the referees, otherwise they’d be disqualifying everyone.

We have this discussion every time there is a major athletics competition, and then the sport is promptly forgotten again. Until the next time.
