Bro what the actual fuck. I can’t even name 10 companies in my field that are within 50 km range and you wrote a letter to 500?! That’s fucking mental. I can’t imagine that you rewrite the motivation to match the company, so I’d guess a lot of letters are way too generic, resulting in not getting an answer?
How much experience do you have? This looks rough. What kind of position did you accept?
This graph looks fantastic. Can you please share what tools/software you use to create this? Thanks
Sounds about right. Pretty wild you didn’t even need a lot of interviews for the one job you did get offered. Sr is super competitive rn.
Missing details: – Experience (How long have you been in the field? You have referrals). – Education (Did you do sotware engineering? Comp sci?) – How you applied to each company (Quick application? Cover letter?)
I’m in the same boat but no interviews yet. The closest was the hiring manager referred me to the same position but it’s an hour and a half away so can’t take it. 600+ applications. For reference I have 10+ years of c# .net with a program I did that has over 90000 lines of code and planning to make a video about it for my portfolio. I mainly apply to junior/associate positions and no luck. Got the Google cybersecurity professional certification as well as a few LinkedIn Learning certificates.
Excellent visualization, and it tells a compelling story that’s quite unfortunate (except that you did finally land a role). What kills me is that even with 4 referrals, they all ended in rejection. I very much dislike seeing this trend, but I do appreciate this plot.
Wait, i though software engineering was always short in offering the job market, what’s going on ? They using IT budget for AI hires ?
Please God tell me most of those were “single click” applications and not full-blown fill-outs.
Could someone tell me what these graphs are called? Thanks
