Surprised they didn’t take your front wheel and saddle. Consider getting rid of the quick release or get a cable. Props to your lock.
Bastards!
MVP of the day is the bike lock
specialized does offer an assisted frame replacement service aka a reduced cost on new frames if the old one is damaged. i’m not sure if its only damage during riding but worth a chat with an authorised dealer to see what they can do.
*theft
So this doesn’t happen to you again, put the lock through the rear triangle of the frame with wheel or just the wheel within the rear triangle they can’t do this, they won’t have a rideable bike, even better if you can do the front wheel+frame too as they don’t have leverage. Two u-locks and they’d probably not bother, unless they had a loud angle grinder.
Edit: And looking for (at least Gold) Sold Secure locks, they generally are resistant to hand tool attacks.
Dickheads. Please report to the police though if you haven’t already
Fuck these cunts.
Shit man, that sucks
Without wanting to victim blame – unfortunately you’ve found out that a brightly coloured specialized is a very recognisably ‘premium’ bike that shitheads will inevitably try to steal.
My bike for locking up on the street is a matte black fixed gear bike without obvious branding that I’ve intentionally tried to never wash other than the basic maintenance to prevent corrosion. My nicer bikes have always been indoor bikes.
