Léon Marchand of France makes it 4 out of 4! He ranked first in the Men's 400m Individual Medley. With his second and third gold medals, he became the first person to win both, the Men's 200m Butterfly and 200m Breaststroke events in one session. And tonight he has won his fourth gold for the Men’s 200m Individual Medley! He also set new Olympic Records for all four events.

  1. On the last lap he is the first guy to touch the wall and the last to come up in the underwater part. absolutely insane

  2. How did you post it that fast I just saw it on a TV as I passed by a café like 1min ago

  3. My sincere condolences to anyone competing against him because nobody’s gonna win shit for a few years 😭

  4. This is unbelievable.

He is such an athlete, winning 4 golds! And almost breaking a WR on his last swim.

    I’m blown away.

  5. As a Spaniard, GZ FRANCE!!

This guy is the athlete of the Olympic Games thus far and is going to be the best at the end of the event.

Just PHENOMENAL, blows your mind to see him compete.

  6. One of my favorite things was hearing the crowd cheer him on the breaststroke. It reminded me of the balcony door scene in Ace Ventura.

  7. Four individual golds and four Olympic records in four swims! Incredible.

    A few other interesting facts:

He was the first person since the 1900 Olympics in Paris to win two individual gold medals in the same night.

Before him, no one had ever won a medal in breaststroke and any other individual event.

When he broke Phelps’s 400 IM world record, it was the longest standing world record in history since pro swimming switched to long course in 1957.

  8. Is he done with this olympics or there are still more gold medals for him to come? Watching him is an absolute joy; I want more.

  9. 4 races, 4 wins, 4 Olympic record.

Also, never before has a French athlete won 4 gold medals at the same Olympic Games. Legend.

  10. so cool to see such a huge star emerge right when it’s his own country hosting. the french fans look like they’re losing their minds, i love seeing that every olympics

  11. So the argument for keeping all the swimming events was that the events are massively different and Phelps was just a freak of nature for his ability to win multiple events, yeah?

  12. So happy for him! Although I will never forgive France for building such a slow pool- they robbed us of more WRs!!!

  13. The comments in here are vastly different to when a Chinese guy wins a single Gold… What’s up with that? Where’s the accusations of doping?

  14. I wonder if he can win 9 gold medals in one Olympic Game. He will need three more fast swimmer for the relays like Phelps.

  15. Sa dernière coulée était tellement dingue. Je l’ai vu disparaître si longtemps je me suis “bordel il est où???)

  16. It’s truly once in a generation to see an athlete dominate like this on their home soil. Can you imagine if Phelps had gotten to swim in an Olympics on American soil? This has been amazing to watch!

  17. Impressive, yes, but let’s have a little perspective on multiple medal winners.

If you’re a swimmer or a cyclist you can get ten medals for doing one thing in slightly different ways. If you’re a decathlete you have to be good at ten different sports to win one medal.

  18. The crowds at Paris have been amazing for all events.

Props to everyone attending in person.

  19. This is not humanly possible and makes no sense… oh wait, this is a white French guy, must be legit! Sorry, wrong post!

  20. I love that he is from France while France is hosting the Olympics. Right place, right time. Instant celebrity. Congratulations young man, well earned.

  21. Our best swimmers can only get silver because if this guy, but I don’t care. He’s amazing. Genuinely happy for France.
