  1. Sorry, sorry to everyone who commented in the previous [thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/olympics/comments/1ekol68/all_hail_queen_andrade/) (you can still see their comments in the link)! But I found a better pic of the moment, and I just had to go with this one and delete the other post! It’s the amateur photographer in me!

Also, this pic is 4096 x 2467, which is high res enough to work as a wallpaper on most devices!

Edited to add: I’m seeing some confirmation that this is the first all black podium in Olympics history for artistic gymnastics! That is huge and groundbreaking in a sport with a horrible history, some of it ongoing, some of it very open, against black people! In not so distant past, international gymnastics officials have stereotyped and disparaged black women and girls. Another official openly talked about how a change in the rules was done specifically to favor European gymnasts. But welp, whether they like it or not, the future is here!

  2. I teared up when they did this! Such great support and truly honoring a champion in Rebecca Andrade 💚💛💚

  3. It is adorable. I was sad that my stream got cut off before the medal ceremony. Good for her.

  4. I love how big Simone and Jordan are cheesin in this pic! You can just tell how happy they are for Rebeca!

  5. Her story is incredible. Working her way out of the favelas, sometimes walking **two hours** to practice each way. I love all these women and so happy to see the mutual respect and love between them. I also love the quote from Andrade’s coach, correcting a reporter that called her and Simone rivals- “they are *competitors*, not rivals”. You can still want to win but respect the hell out of the woman who beat you when you don’t.

  6. So much love between the gymnastics competitors. I love to see them rooting for each other during each event. To me that’s what the Olympics is all about, respect for the best in their sport.

  7. I’m crying again! I love these girls. They all showed so much respect to one another throughout the entire competition. And as an American, I am thrilled for Rebeca. She is incredibly talented and deserved that gold.

  8. THIS is what the Olympics are about! I love everything about this photo especially the joy on all three of their faces.

  9. Andrade is a legend and she’s an inspiration to a whole new generation of gymnast in Brazil.

  10. when the media encourages rivalries and hierarchies that do not exist in reality… and when these women watched the Olympics as children, there were rarely black women on the podium. Today there were 3. When they were children, they saw the first black medalists.

  11. This is why I love the Olympics. I have been attempting to have my daughters (10,4) watch with me, especially during women’s events. I want them to see these young ladies being great and receiving all the adulation they deserve. And when they do stuff like this, bro, this simple gesture summarized what I’ve been trying to teach my girls.

I refuse to let bigots ruin what has been an amazing Olympics, probably the best I’ve seen in my 40+ years. Watching with my girls probably has a lot to do with why I think this is the best.

  12. I love this picture so much. Looks like they were all having fun which is the best part of any sport!
