  1. The biggest problem is that he don’t have any competition, so he usually stop at 6.00 or whatever the second place comes in and then goes directly to his current record, he would probably be able to do 6.17 a couple of times more if he wanted to.

  2. Doesn’t he get a bonus for every time he breaks the record? So he just goes up a little at a time?

  3. off topic but is it just me or does he look a little bit like Timothee chalamet? maybe it’s just me lol

  4. It’s like that yearbook pic with twins. Their caption said,

“There’s nothing cant can separate us.”

    “Except this guy.”

  5. Renaud Lavillenie is the one It’s Not Unusual in a sea of What’s New Pussycats

  6. Bro farming the sponsor money for every time he breaks a world record. Smart guy. Bubka style.

  7. My brother’s mate had all Top 10 scores on the local mall’s Time Crisis. Someone came in got the number 1 score. He had to spend another year regaining all 10 spots.

  8. “See what you can achieve when you don’t let your lose dong ruin you, son?”

  9. For people to understand what a generational talent he is:

    – Duplantis casually warmed up at 5.95 (silver medal)
    – 2nd place got to 5.95 – 25 cm above the 11th place (and mind you, this is post qualifying)
    – Duplantis won the medal at 6, took the OR at 6.10 (+6) and then WR (and new OR) at 6.25

In other words: Duplantis was further ahead of #2 than #2 was of #11.

This absolutely dominance is truly exceedingly rare. Hats off!

  10. I wonder what number he could actually hit if he wasn’t just willing to break it 1 cm at a time.

  11. Yeah? Check top women’s 1500m free swim top 20 all time. How many different names are on that list?

  12. The cutest thing is how former record holders are the ones cheering the louder for the new guy. Like Renaud did here. Or Phelps did with Marchand, etc

They must feel so proud somebody else is continuing to push the limits

  13. That’s hilarious. He just needs to compete one more time and then this event can be named after him

  14. He is certainly no **(•_•) / ( •_•)>⌐■-■ / (⌐■_■)** Katie Ledecky with all of her names in the top 20 all-time record in her 1500m free event.
