Controlled the race from about 200m onwards and never looked in doubt from there. Fully deserves it aswell, after so many silvers it must be nice to finally see a different colour 😭
I was worried about this one. There were a few events in the kayaking where we could have bagged a couple of Golds but didn’t; thought it would be Sod’s law if Keely was pipped at the post but thank god she smashed it.
Watched the defense and the pace at the last lap, by dad and I were convinced she was going to run out of gas but then she suddenly turned on a new gear.
She’s an absolute star. From the unassuming pose she struck in the introduction, throughout the race, she has an aura about her that the others don’t.
Athing Mu will surely be back next year at the Worlds, and hopefully between them they can challenge that world record, set by someone who was likely taking drugs by the bucketload.
She and Bryony Page, the two medals for my adopted homeland that I felt deep in my heart.
She is one of those people with all the blessings; talented and extremely beautiful .
So pleased for he! My hometown is going crazy right now UFC heavyweight champ and an Olympic gold medalist and then there’s me sat at home playing video games!
That ‘afterburner’ in the final 50m. Who could catch her really! Congrats to her and to Team GB!
