What a race! Ingebrigtsen really messed up the strategy there, too fast early on and just looked like he gassed about 100m out. Kerr lucky not to be beaten into 3rd by Nuguse too.
As a Brit, mildly disappointed. But objectively, what a great race.
This track is definitely making up for the slow pool last week
Let’s go Hole Cocker!!!! What a great race! USA USA USA
US went from no golds in the 1500m since 1908 Olympics to winning 2 of last 3
I think Ingebritsen was gunning for a WR (he came within a second 3 weeks ago) and it turned out he wasn’t ready for it.
I honestly think Josh Kerr didn’t see Cole! I believe that once he got past Jacob, he thought he had the gold, and was then surprised. Absolutely mental race!
The BBC were accurate when they said Jacob and Josh destroyed each other, it just goes to show how tactical these races are
Kerr destroyed the British record in this race by over a second (3:27.79; the previous record was Mo Farah’s 3:28.81 from 2013). Sadly I think he focused too much on Ingebrigtsen – IMO Kerr went too early and could’ve just hung back for another 10 seconds or so before kicking on. If he’d done that I think he’d have won. But congratulations to Hocker. What a fantastic race all-round – I think it’s instantly entered the annals of great Olympic races.
Out of no where!
Amazing performance by Hocker! He really pushed the limits.
I cried 🇺🇸🦅
Fantastic race. I thought it was going to be between ingebrigsen and Kerr, but was surprised to see Hocker win and how close it was between Kerr and Nuguse, with Kerr getting the decision for Silver., certainly brought the drama.
What a shock, Hocker completely upended the Ingebrigtsen v Kerr rivalry. Congrats on a well-deserved gold.
Of course I was watching it on the CBC website and it decided to shit the bed mid-race so I never got to see what happened. 🙁
USA men 1, 3, & 5 in 1500m final. That’s amazing!
Kerr vs Ingerbritsen; Mutually Asured Destruction.
The BBC Coverage this evening has been terrible. 2 hours of VT’s building up to this race and hyping up Josh Kerr and his arrogance, you’d think there wasn’t anything else going on this evening. I knew as soon as they set off they’d run eachother out of the gold. Congrats Hocker, ran your own race and didn’t get drawn in to any of the games going on.
I was assured “Nobody is faster than [Ingebrigtsen]” ??
Never heard the mans name before…..but he made sure I remember his name now.
Gets boxed with about 75-100 to go and then just comes right back and slides by both the guys ahead of him.
You have to love it.
Amazed Amazed Amazed. You could see his soul giving it all
That was a dramatic last stretch. I don’t know much about 1500m but they were talking about Ingebrigtsen like he’s the man and then 3 runners get past him and he doesn’t get even a medal. I love these moments in the Olympics when the unexpected happens.

All the hype for the olympic vs world champion showdown and then Hocker finesses the Gold
GO DUCKS!!!!!
That was absolutely mental! One of the best races yet, everyone was so focused on Kerr vs Ingebrigtsen that no one really mentioned Hocker or Nuguse.
INSANE ending fr
THATGUY RIGHT THERE!!
