Yeah… This only shows that statistics sometimes are not that meaningful…
The country with most reported crimes is Vatican. They have something 7-800 people and some 1000 crimes reported.
So per capita they have most crimes.
The country with most Nobel winners per capita is Iceland… They have 350k people and 1 Nobel winner…
Even crazier if you do 2020(1) with the tear that San Marino went on.
Your stats are wrong. Slovenia only has 1 gold medal and no silver and bronze.
This displays perfectly the absurdity of the “medals per capita” cope.
It’d be interesting to also make one normalized based on $ spent!
She’s lives in Maryland. She doesn’t even count to her countries population so this is awkward.
I think the medals per capita idea’s failing is in the limitations that are placed on the larger population countries. Only three people per country are allowed to enter per event for most events. This prevents large population countries from just out numbering other countries in certain events. There are also lots of events where each country just gets one team.
Good thing they don’t count gold medals like this
Can anyone tell me what the black circles on the chart represent? There’s one over France, Great Britain, China etc. TIA
