  1. I don’t think anyone credible was ever saying it was hacked. The results were falsely reported and “certified” by a corrupt elections board. This shouldn’t have surprised anyone, really, because there’s some evidence that they did the same thing in the last election. The only surprising thing about this is how weak the defense they gave for their delay in reporting the election results was.

Maduro has never been as popular as Chavez, and even Chavez probably came close to losing his last election. I doubt he has more than 30% true supporters.

  2. This is one of those times that, if you don’t read the article, the headline is likely to mislead you. Please read the damned article.

  3. In era of clickbait, layered headline that requires the reader to have prior knowledge of what’s going on, reading the comments is fun.

Also made me think about rest of the discourse on here and how much of it is informed.

  4. **Tl;dr: The National Electoral Council (CNE) says “we had a service disruption so we can’t give you the vote numbers (to prove the election wasn’t tampered with)”, Carter Center says “no you didn’t”.**

(As someone who is used to reading CNE in the Nato meaning of computer network exploitation, this was a funny article.)

  5. According to Maduro, the voting system was too compromised to show the actual tallies as he’s required to, but it was plenty good enough to declare himself the winner. You don’t really need an audit of the machines to see how that’s bullshit.
