Australia out here looking like a toddler forcing their mom to watch the cool move they can do.
I know nothing about break dancing but I honestly felt like I was watching an Aussie comedian troll us all with that performance.
Am I a hater?
This is cringe. My toes have curled up!

Comentantor goes: classic ______ right there.
I go: ok I believe it.
What was the Australian doing exactly? I ask as an Australian – have I completely misunderstood what breakdancing is? I feel like I’ve seen better breakdancing at my local youth centre 😕
Wasn’t sure what to make of it for the first ’bout’ or two but it’s a spectacle and I think I’m into it!
why is this a thing
I feel like everything aussies have achieved these games just went down the pisser.
This has to be the worst sport in the Olympics by a long way
Luckily this is likely to be a one off as it’s not on the events lidt for 2028…
Originally I was all for supporting anyone who gets a shot at being in the Olympics, But after seeing this, maybe I am a hater. Or maybe I’m too old.
What’s fascinating is that Raygun – the Australian breaker – is a university lecturer who has been widely reported to be critical of breaking as an Olympic sport. The problem was that the breaking community wasn’t asked if it wanted to be an Olympic sport.
Long story short, the World Dancesport Federation wanted ballroom dancing to be in the Olympic program. The IOC wanted a dancesport, but felt ballroom was too outdated and wanted a younger appeal, so the WDSF nominated breaking as having the best chance, and perhaps the pathway to ballroom.
The majority of breakdancers see themselves as artists, not athletes. Most countries and regions didn’t have an organised sporting body for breaking, so a lot of high-profile breakers had to take on the roles of administrators to put together a competition format suitable for the Olympics over the past 5 years.
Seeing this now, it really looks half-baked. It does so poorly to celebrate breaking to an audience that is already critical of it
That was hard to watch.
Fuck this is cringe not sure what the Aussie competitor was doing? Lot of rolling on the ground and mugging. They could have also sprung for some street clothes not just leftover kit from the cricket world cup.
The Australian made my day
Was that the Aussie’s full dance? Is that IT? Just that?
I am feeling divided about having that as an Olympic sport
I see people not liking the Australian’s girl performance, but both looked lame and slow. If the performances are gonna be like this they better get rid of it in the olympics, even the american one fell or misstep on 2 tricks and one of them was pretty simple.
I remember watching B-Boy Junior which was the best when I was growing up and that was real athleticism and talent.
This got into the olympics before cricket or netball
“Raygun looks like she works at the Brisbane zoo feeding kangaroos.” 😂 I’ve never been but this seems to be a completely accurate portrayal of what she showed up wearing.
The Australian has soccer mom energy
This is how we will settle future wars. Every country sends their best dancer
Did Raygun Stephen Bradbury her way into the Olympics? Like did every other breakdancer in Oceania perish in a tragic accident?
“Raygun looking like she works at the Brisbane zoo feeding kangaroos” – Damn that was brutal 💀
i have no problem with breakdancing in the olympics, but how is this olympic level breakdancing?
i’ve seen people literally 500 times better and more impressive on mission beach boardwalk with just a piece of cardboard.
This would be a lot cooler if you had to bring your own cardboard.

It’s B-Rad yall!
Rayguns facial expressions while getting 0 points are killing me
The mean mugging while dressed in a little uniform is a hilarious visual
The Aussie dancer was doing a social experiment. Nothing else can explain it.
I’ve watched many sports during these Olympics (except golf) but this one… I don’t know it doesn’t seem to reflect the high level we see in some competitions. Sure some moves are impressive and need a lot of skills but I’m not sure it belongs to the Olympics.
I am SOOOO glad I wasn’t the only one completely baffled by Raygun’s “breakin”. For a while she was literally just rolling around cleaning the cypher. I know nothing about breakin, but it’s blatantly obvious to me, she is so out of her depth with all these others.
