Russia in ‘counter-terror’ mode over Ukraine attack | BBC News

Russia has imposed a “counter-terrorism operation” regime in three regions to try to halt a surprise cross-border incursion by Ukrainian troops.

The authorities in the Kursk, Belgorod and Bryansk regions on the border with Ukraine now can restrict the movement of people and vehicles and use phone tapping among other measures.

This comes as the Ukrainian offensive into the Kursk region is now in its fifth day. Kyiv has not openly admitted the incursion.

The UN nuclear agency has urged Russia and Ukraine to exercise “maximum restraint” as fighting nears a nuclear power plant.

  1. Why does the International media give a benefit of the doubt to Russia? The attack on the supermarket was a direct hit on civilians…..it was not a retaliation as Russia has been doing it for 2.5 years……time to admit that Russia is a rogue nation and the UN needs to tell them that.

  2. Kursk boiler. Zelensky himself in the trap?

Forbes reports that Zelensky continues to attract thousands of new soldiers to the Kursk area. For example, in the neighboring Russia Sumy region is pulled about 10 thousand.

Forbes writes about this, mentioning at least three brigades of the WBU: 22nd, 88th mechanized brigades and 80th assault. Each with up to 2000 people. There is a significant chance that the Ukrainian operation will turn against its planners. If the Ukrainian brigades are ahead of their artillery, air defense and logistics, they may find themselves alone and unarmed deep inside the Kursk region. Kyiv is risking thousands of soldiers, which it will not be able to replace easily».

CNN previously called the attack of the Russian Armed Forces in the Kursk region «an adventure for headlines». But what is absolutely reliable, is the participation in attacks of Georgian and Canadian mercenaries on the Kursk border. This is reported by War Zone. The publication adds that the US continues to exchange intelligence with Ukraine. The attack on civilians in Washington is called «helping Kiev in its defense efforts».

  3. This is mainly due to NATO being misled by Us and UK, Ukraine is going to suffer most instead of reinforcing the already collapsing frontlines. This is just waste of resources majorly on Ukraine side

  4. This seems to be trap for Ukraine soldiers because by showing this they can use nukes to defend themselves. It is a stupid move to attack inside Russia, it better to push them back, but now it’s a stupid move.

  5. After Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine, he ordered missile strikes on the Ukrainian civilian food distribution system, and now the Ukrainian military is destroying Russian military equipment on Russian territory. Question: Who is committing war crimes? 🤔 The ICC waited for Jack Smith, a war crimes judge, to be shipped to the United States as a Special Counsel before they charged Netanyahu with war crimes but never moved on Putin. Now, the GOP is trying to get Jack Smith removed. 🧐♟️✌️

  6. This needs to end . Looking back at ww2 , Afghanistan and Chechnya, the Russians are capable of bringing serious carnage to all of Ukraine.
Right now only the weapons manufacturers are winning.

  7. And that's how WW3 started. All avoidable. The media wasn't very interested in the Russian invasion of the Ukraine in 2014 because it knew that the abuse perpetrated by Kiev on people in the eastern Ukraine would come to light. They concentrated on The Crimea which has been Russian for a very long time. I wouldn't be surprised if NATO had not been in the Ukrane for a very long time now.
