How is 17th September not a national holiday. Pic n Mix is the best thing that ever happened.
My era of Beano from mid 80s to early 90s
I try and keep an eye out for ones in car boot sales and read them with my 7 year old daughter, but I’ll say some things haven’t aged well, like Dennis getting the slipper, or Little Plum.
But some of the old adverts like this are nostalgic
I have fond memories of being given my week’s pocket money, being unleashed upon the pick n mix, and then consuming enough sugar to kill a rhinoceros.
I’m sure picknmix existed in Woolworths long before 1987.
This is fitting because I try to describe to my children how awesome it was and they look at me like I’m describing an encounter with aliens.
All we are is dust in the wind dude
Still weighed in quarter lbs as well.
Why is the disembodied head of Winston Churchill next to a cowboy boot?
Those pink ‘shrimps’ that must have nicotine or something in. Tasted of sweetened talc and sawdust but I couldn’t get enough of them.
Also the big jelly snakes. My mum always used to tell me not to get them because they weighed too much when I could have way more cola bottles for the same weight.
