  1. That is quite a lot. I don’t know how many Ukrainian soldiers are captured, but I would start to demand repatriation of the Ukrainian children that are still hostage in Russian families.

  2. Please please please be true! This is far more than my most optimistic estimate for this stage in the operation – that is, short of an encirclement to the west of the initial thrust.

  3. Big if true but desperately needs some more confirmation other than a post on twitter.

  4. Great if accurate! They just empty the lands and imprison the Russian forces. Good for them, they live and get to know human treatment and it’s good for the exchanges to come. Also good when Russian conscripts see that there’s a difference between the Ukrainians they see on propaganda TV and the Ukrainians that treat them fairly in war captivity.

  5. Take them back to Ukraine treat them well and swap for Ukrainians then when they go back they will sow dissent and not want to go back to fight

  6. That’s getting up to a Russian brigade level dam.. keep surrendering if you enjoy life.

  7. TBH, it is hard to believe. For example, Russia captured around 2k POWs in Mariupol. But it was details of two Ukrainian brigades. Ukraine didn’t capture strongholds that were even remotely comparable to Mariupol during the current offensive.

There are definitely a large amount of POWs because of the surprise effect. But I do not see any evidence for 2000.

  8. Who can blame them for surrendering!! How long can one be cannon-fodder-in-waiting?

  9. I don’t think that Russia gives anything on 2k POW. They accept 1k+ losses per day anyway so what would they care about any POW at all… Unfortunately, Russia has more than enough uneducated idiots to replace losses for the next years. Fortunately, this will weaken or eventually destroy Russia in the long run. Somehow sad as despite vodka there is (was) a certain important culture in this huge country.

  10. I’ve recently read speculation that this might be a bigger hit to the ‘middle’ class in Russia.

As in, the ‘rich kids’ service men were stationed in these areas, as they were considered safe, while service men from the poorer areas and ofc prisons were used at the front.

So kinda bringing the war to the reality of the middle class.

Any substance to this? What do you guys think?
