Newcastle United are close to announcing either a new stadium, or a rebuild of St James’ Park. Both options would cost multi-billions of pounds, possibly close to £5bn which the SOFI stadium in LA cost.

Only so many concerts Beyonce can do on tour in England ffs
Hope they rebuild/rennovate st James’ park rather than move
https://youtu.be/IxyqRwUywBg?si=nJpgCeBnqfmNCCFr – would imagine a lot of newcastle fans might’ve already seen this, but very good video about the whole thing.
I hope they can work something on SJP, with clever class stands. The only other option is to move out of town and that would take away something
Title is misleading – the original article headline *Newcastle will sign ‘cheque of a generation’ to make stadium plans happen* is more accurate
Nowhere have they said (yet) that they plan to build a new stadium and the article does not claim they will
I thought the site that was the Utilita Arena would’ve been a great alternative and it did look big enough to fit a 65-70k stadium while still being close to the train station and city centre but apparently that’s going to be used for something else
I guess really it’s a case of figuring out the practicalities of how you upgrade SJP first
