Why is the recent Daytona 6263 sell so much over the median price?

In July, there were 742,000 watches in the market, of which 176,000 were added during the month of July. Makes sense?
The crazy thing to me is that I can look at a $50 watch and a $500,000 watch and I probably couldn’t tell the difference, which makes me wonder what possesses people to spend this much on a watch that most people can’t even see the difference.
