Thai court dismisses PM for violating constitution | BBC News

A Thai court has dismissed Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin for appointing to his cabinet a former lawyer who was once jailed.

The Constitutional Court ruled that Mr Srettha had violated the “rules on ethics” with “the display of defiant behaviour”.

The 62-year-old, who had been in power for less than a year, is the third PM in 16 years to be removed by the same court.

  1. This is why the previous prime minister the military Junta Prayut was so confident that in the future there would be no more coups in Thailand. When the conservatives have a constitutional court that can ban politicians, dissolve the political parties, and dismiss prime ministers, and more. Why would anyone need a coup?

  2. * The prime minister appointed an ex convict to his cabinet which is totally against SOP clearly stated as a code of ethics.
    * The ex-con was convicted on a bribery charge over 10 years ago.
    * The removal of this prime minister has been made according to every letter of the law.

  3. careful there Thailand, your political discord and risk of instability is making your neighbours jealous. Aseans love chaos and instability, so they can talked about it without going to work

  4. อย่างน้อยที่สุด ก็เพื่อป้องกันการใช้เงินคลังของประเทศไปกับเงินดิจิทัล10000บาท ซึ่งมันจะทำให้เงินในคลังประเทศไทยมีปัญหา

  5. Not sure if the judicial system has a 'growth mindset' before taking such drastic decisions. There could be other alternatives for appointing an ex-convict. As if rest of them are holy cows.

  6. BBC News is a big news platform that used to be really respectable to all but now they`re only spread out lies or twisted words and misinformation about others just to get their rating up. I hope you get your facts straight before you`re doing the stories about someone else`s country because the real reason Thailand's PM. was removed is because he did many unlawful things during his term as Thailand`s PM. which was against the constitutional law not to mentioned that he looked the other way in order to ease former Thailand`s PM. "Tuksin" the political prisoner to do less to none prison sentence. In the period of one year`s time as Thailand`s PM., he didn`t do shit but consumed ( more like burned ) a great deal of tax payer`s money in Thailand. 😳😳
