Five charged in connection with Matthew Perry’s death | BBC News

Five defendants have been charged in connection with the death of the Friends star Matthew Perry, federal authorities have said.

Two doctors are accused of working with others to distribute ketamine to Perry, 54, from September to October 2023.

Police found a “drug-selling emporium” at one of the doctors homes, which included vials of ketamine, thousands of pills, cocaine and other drugs, authorities said.

The actor was found unresponsive at his Los Angeles home in October last year.

  4. I think these charges are ridiculous, Perry sought out these drugs, no one made him take them. I think once a person has had some recovery and rehab education whatever befalls them is pretty much on them.

  12. Although many can argue that they just provided the drugs to Perry the question remains who's fault was it that he overdosed if they had provided him with pills with a misrepresented strength it could be argued this is a form of negligent manslaughter.

    Perhaps similar to a drunk driver killing someone.

    I must stress also that medical professionals should also be held accountable for negligently providing dangerous medicines to known substance abusers.

  13. I feel sorry for Matthew Perry and that he died last October but he should have gone for more help instead of using the drugs and paying so much to do so much harm to him. I still think the people who gave him the drugs should get some time of punishment too.

  17. Who the hell gave an addict ketamine ?? Sometimes decades of drink and drugs renders a person incapable of making any good decision about anything ! He was probably so damaged that he actually thought it was a good idea. Treatment centres don't work !! A A is the only proven way …every treatment centre sends people to meetings.

  27. Does anyone know what kind of rope it was? You know….. rope….. the thing they used to tie him to the chair whilst they LADLED drugs down his throat. F.F.S.! Are people stupid or what? He CHOSE to overdose! He had a life of luxury, fame and fortune. He had no physical ailments. He was not short of relationships (by all accounts). The fact that it wasn't enough for him tells you all you need to know. These "celebs" spend millions on drugs because they can. It's the public that have MADE them that rich. As one doctor apparently said, he WAS "a moron"! Instead, you get all his "Friends" cronies muttering "poor, poor Matthew… it's so sad" blah blah. Again, he CHOSE to abuse the privileged life he was given. He CHOSE to become more and more dependent. Why didn't he just top himself if life was so unbearable? Yet another pathetic "victimhood" tale.

  35. I pay for my anti depressants whats stopping me doing an over dose .. the doctor signs them off for me …his money his choice you cant babysit an adult…he could of tried rehabilitation ?

  38. I understand that in the US doctors who perform surgery can legally access this drug for their patients. This may explain why Mathew Perry nominated an Anaesthetist as his general doctor ( Primary Care Physician).

  40. I guess they have to arrest every liqueur store owner in the country because they encourage alcoholism, liver disease and death from drunks in car accidents, suicide, alcoholism.

  48. Matthew Perry should not have been in the hot tub after taking that strong drug. He, long with millions of other people knew what happened to Whitney Houston and her daughter Bobbi; they had taken drugs and drowned in the bath. I think these other people were partly responsible but did not force him into the hot tub.
