Elon Musk hosts friendly discussion with Donald Trump on X after tech delays | BBC News
Elon Musk’s much-anticipated discussion with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on the billionaire’s platform X went ahead after being marred by technical issues.
The conversation, in which Mr Musk asked friendly questions on subjects such as immigration and inflation, began more than 40 minutes late as many users struggled to gain access.
The event had been billed as an interview, but Trump made a series of unsubstantiated claims that went without challenge.
Musk blamed the technical glitches on a cyber-attack, but one expert told the BBC that was unlikely.

Considering all the friendly discussions the BBC has had with UN rapists, I'll go with Musk, thank you very much. Tell us about how long you covered up the grooming gang scandals, eh CBC?
I'm an American And I love the BBC But this gentleman has it all wrong. Joe Biden has said many horrendous And terrible lies About Donald trump. Donald trump is speaking the truth If you lived over here you would understand. Biden has never been a good person. He has never had good politics. I enjoy BBC and listen to it a lot and watch a lot of Shows from the BBC. But I did not like the This This man present Donald trumpman!
BBC this 2 hours interview is more damaging than the decades coverup for savile
Slurred donald sounded like a duck and it was a tech pronlem experienced on no other X platform .
So the EU wants to extradite Musk, a non EU citizen. Why is the EU interested in being the world's speech Gestapo. Sounds to me like declaration of war. Better stay home red-coats. Things didn't go so well for you the first round.
BBC is a sham.
Trump 2024 🎉🎉🎉

The A-bbc at it again 🙄
BBC, the puppets for their puppet master radical left wing socialist fascists in Parliament.
The pm should be arrested since everything that's comes out of his mouth is mis and disinformation. He's a Nazi POS. I encourage you to come after Americans see how that works for you
Look at uk and how bad it’s gotten
Trump sounded very sensible during the interview. He’d should be re-elected.

When is the old Bobby that carries a stick coming to America to round us up???😂😂😂😂. GAF
jesus. Couldn't get anymore bias than this. Cant wait for BBC to be forced into subscription model. Mainstream media out of touch on how people actually think its crazy.
Bbc you should listen to them their bad and the as bbc push politicians politics and their billionaires backers And mass immigration on population in the USA and uk
They said Trump was gonna win in 2020. When he didn’t, the entire Trump cult had a temper tantrum and raided the capitol. I wonder if that’s going to happen in 2024.
Can someone please tell me why the BBC turns off comments on some videos and not others?
As reported by the worlds worst news channel BBC.. Extreme left is enabled by the BBC, it should be banned
Lets Hear Harris in a free flowing interview? Where is she hiding?
The BBC IS TRASH
Since you won't allow people to comment on the UK riot sentencing video I'll leave it here. Your pathetically and obviously biased headline about Ricky Jones was "Labour councillor in court over counter-protest remark". WTAF "remark"??? He said "slit their throats"! I think you might have had a substantially more trenchant headline if a Reform activist said that about one of your preferred demographics.
Don't trust the news coming out of Communist Britain. Where the immigrants are valued more than the local people
That voice is a Ai voice lmao run it through your checker.
BBC bull shit she can;t talk !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
We all know the truth about Jan 6th, no riots or insurrection! You dont try and cause a coup and forget your weapons! BBC propaganda machine at it's best

This waste of time contains a lack of structure, slow ball questions, too much unmitigated @ss kissing. It's like two babies talking to each other, nothing fresh that hasn't been said before, blah, blah, blah …, GETTING TIRED OF THIS RAT. Same with Donald Dump.

Ah, the video—an epic mashup of the world’s richest meme lord and the most "tremendous" ex-president ever to grace Twitter (now X, because obviously it needed a makeover). Let’s dive into this conversation, which, in true tech fashion, kicked off with a glitchy start that Musk charmingly blamed on a cyberattack. Classic Elon, always adding a sprinkle of sci-fi drama to his technological hiccups. But hey, at least it wasn’t a PowerPoint presentation about colonizing Mars, right? 🌍➡🚀
The video opens with the kind of technical difficulties that remind us all that even billionaires aren’t immune to the whims of Wi-Fi. But once the glitches were ironed out, 1.3 million people eagerly tuned in to watch the unlikely duo discuss everything from immigration to divine intervention. Yes, Trump treated us to a tale of an assassination attempt where he narrowly avoided a bullet in what he described as an “act of God.” Because nothing says divine favor like a bullet grazing your ear.
Now, what’s interesting—and slightly terrifying—is Trump’s proposal to build an "Iron Dome" across the U.S., inspired by Israel's defense system. Because, of course, the answer to any complex issue is a massive, expensive shield, possibly designed to protect us from the harsh realities of global politics. Or maybe just from Elon’s next flamethrower project. Who knows? 🤔
Trump’s rhetoric hasn’t changed much. He’s still revisiting old grievances with the fervor of someone who never quite got over being cut from the high school debate team. Joe Biden, who dropped out of the race nearly a month ago, remains a prime target for Trump’s vitriol, even though the election narrative has moved on—well, for everyone except Trump, that is. It’s like watching someone angrily argue with a parking meter that’s long since expired.
As for Elon, his role in this whole spectacle was more that of a stage manager than a star, hosting the platform for Trump’s triumphant return to X. Whether this marks a full return for Trump to his old Twitter antics or just a brief cameo before he retreats back to his social media echo chamber, Truth Social, remains to be seen. But let’s be real: the man loves an audience, and nothing draws a crowd quite like a good old-fashioned Twitter (sorry, X) rant. 🐦➡❌
*Critique and Extrapolation:*
The entire video feels like a surreal cross between a political rally and a tech startup pitch gone awry. Musk’s involvement with Trump here feels less like a meeting of minds and more like a publicity stunt—an awkward blend of political controversy and Silicon Valley swagger. Elon Musk, the master of the unexpected tweet, probably saw this as just another way to keep X relevant, despite the platform’s recent identity crisis. But pairing him with Trump, a man who thrives on chaos and controversy, could be seen as a risky move. It’s like throwing gasoline on a fire and then filming it for views.
*Theorizing Further:*
This video could be a glimpse into the future of political discourse—a bizarre world where tech moguls become kingmakers, not through policy or philosophy, but through the sheer power of platform control. Imagine a future where elections are less about debates on CNN and more about who can host the most bombastic Twitter Space. The lines between social media influence and political power could blur even further, with platforms like X becoming the new battlegrounds for hearts, minds, and votes.
But, of course, there’s also the potential for this to backfire spectacularly. Tech platforms hosting political content can quickly spiral out of control, leading to misinformation, echo chambers, and the kind of toxic discourse that even Musk’s famed "free speech absolutism" might struggle to contain. Trump’s return to X could reignite the very same divisiveness that led to his previous ban, putting Musk in the awkward position of balancing engagement metrics against the potential for platform-wide chaos.
In short, this video isn’t just a quirky moment in internet history; it’s a harbinger of the tangled web of tech and politics that lies ahead. And as amusing as it might be to watch Musk and Trump share the digital stage, the implications for democracy and public discourse are no laughing matter. But then again, in a world where a cyberattack is just another Tuesday and divine intervention means dodging bullets, who needs reality? 🤷♂
Musk has created millions of jobs world wide…what can the democrats and Kamala say they did? ha ha ha Both Biden and Kamala deserve insults..they earned them
