A reality that most of not all Barca fans have either joked about or thought about. Pique is currently one of the few people I can think of that can replace Laporta and lead a success project. He helped land Barca the Rakuten deal which was one of the most lucrative jersey deals at the time, and he has kickstarted multiple successful sports business ventures.

He knows the problems of the club better than most, but he was also very good friends with Bartomeu. He could be a disaster but honestly he can’t do worse than the last few Barca presidents. I’d rather a former player lead our club than a bunch of business men who treat our players like cattle and hire media companies to manipulate fans and kick players out.

He is a massive risk, but in this chapter of Barca history, it would be a risk worth taking. Or is it?

  3. I knew calls for pique as president would eventually happen but I can’t believe they are already here.

    This dude is extremely slimy. The fact that Messi is friends with Ramos but wouldn’t even acknowledge Pique’s retirement should tell you a lot but because he is a business man and good looking I’m sure a bunch of people would vote for him.

  7. Nope, not a good look for the club. He’ll probably be in jail sooner or later. Don’t people know that he’s been involved in some shady stuff? He’s been associated with Luis Rubiales, who moved the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia, not to mention other scandals.

  14. Pique president. Is it a joke? He will turn FCB into a full blown political institution. He will probably rename FCB the Catalan national team and will only recruit people with Catalan origin.

  19. Like truth be told it might feel hard to swallow but barca don’t need next big president or a next gem they just need time to make their finances clear out by selling player , buying cheaper players and accepting their financial problems.

    If barca keeps on doing signing just to appeal fans and not the sporting project with finance then in some year things might get even worse like i would rather have a barca that can buy 80-100 million player after 3 years then buying 50-60
    million player today while facing problem registering them and make 100 million + signing impossible.

    Can this problem be solved quicker with better deals like with jersey etc then answer is yes but it may only faster the process from taking 3 years to 2 years but no president can solve the financial mess until taking radical changes that i don’t think pique can take as he is too active in media and his image first type person like he is more like laporta in many cases then being radically different.
