I do not deny that Laporta has done some good in his second stint as President. The wage bill has been decreased, we won a La Liga title, and we have been able to sign some players. However, it seems from the discourse that fans are fed up with his manipulation of narratives and lack of transparency.

This summer has really shown his true nature as a politician more interested in short term optics, willing to sacrifice realistic expectations to sell fans hope. All summer we were told about the imminent Nike deal, that we could buy players and register them without a big sale, and that the financial situation is better than it has been. However, each narrative he spewed was followed by club action suggesting the opposite.

We lost out on Nico because, contrary to what he said, we couldn’t make the deal work financially. We are losing Gundogan because we need the salary space to register Olmo despite the narrative that registration would not be an issue. And now to soften the blow we are being told that we will go “all out” for Rafael Leao?? Not to mention he is an inferior player to Nico who would cost 30m more.

It’s getting quite ridiculous listening to this club. I can understand now why Alemany left, which brings up another point of how we are stuck with Deco and his seemingly directionless attempt at squad planning.

I wish we could get rid of Laporta sooner, but at this point I really doubt he will be successful in the next election. We just have to hope the next president brings a more realistic, transparent approach.

  1. Your thread will probably be deleted. I encourage you to post these Laporta quotes in the open thread as they are damning.

  2. He said we could make a deal at that level, and we did.

Unless people think the concept of being able to sell in order to buy is exclusive to Barca, HE DIDN’T LIE.

  3. He chose Olmo since payment structure is way easier than with Nico. Pretty sad since Nico would of been a far better signing.

  4. Why does he have to constantly talk to the press? He always plays his hand and it makes negotiating much harder. Everyone knows the situation at Barca. Then when he starts blabbing to the press, other teams put higher price tags on their players, or offer peanuts for Barca players, and even companies who are part of his levers don’t fulfill their promises. Other sports teams I like just get the job done then talk to the media when it’s all done. Barca have too many whispers going around. This ain’t fucking Game of Thrones.

  5. Yea bruh needs to go. The club is only marginally better financially and in terms of squad we probably have gone backward in the last two seasons. Laporta should thank his stars that legit kids are saving this Barca team. Additionally the way Xavi was treated was ridiculous. Club legend and to beg him to stay only to fire him for telling the truth was crazy. Plus there is much more.
