She just got it; can’t she more or less exchange it for a new one?
I think I’m saving us all a click. The laniard broke off of the medal (she said it was not sturdy enough). The actual medal is fine.
Edit: there’s a small dent and she might get a new one if the IOC daddy’s allow it.
I thought I watched a video of Shawn Johnson saying she hates taking her medals with her to speaking events because if they get damaged or broken they won’t be replaced.
But i just looked it up and it seems these ones will be replaced to look exactly like the original if broken. I wonder if you have to turn the broken one in? It’d be cool to have the broken one by the replacement.

I thought you were allowed to turn in the original for a replacement if the original broke. Although some keep their medals that get dinged up or broken because of the sentimental value of having the medal you got on the podium.
The only acceptable way to break it. Even if it was only the lanyard breaking.
