  1. Happy with the choice. The players vote for the captains so there isn’t much to argue about on this matter

  2. That’s so funny. Two guys who are running down their contracts to leave for free are captains. Poco nos pasa.

  3. None of these are really captain material. Maybe MATS………

    Wow!

Gundogan was more of a leader. Lewa is more of a leader too. As was Roberto.

Back in the day there was Carles fucking Puyol. The ultimate team player and leader. That level of maturity and responsibility is simply not there anymore. But very disappointing choices.

  4. Popularity contest.

Makes no sense to vote. There was some point for it decade ago when the team was stacked with talent and experience, players were all close and roughly same age.

  5. Guess we can finally expect a consistent appearance from the first captain in the game. Don’t get me wrong. I believe Roberto deserves the first captain last season based on his mentality and contribution.

  6. It is funny how people think they know who is good Captain material and who isn’t, more than the players’ own colleagues who play, train, and travel with them consistently for years.

  7. I have to say that I prefer Real Madrid’s approach, where seniority is the only deciding factor. Player votes aren’t the worst (managers selecting their favourite just breeds distrust), but Madrid’s policy helps add some prestige to being a captain.

  8. Damn y’all switched on araujo quick lol. Yes he has shown some immaturity but he’s young and hopefully he improves this season and going forward. I do think he’s a good choice for leader and he loves the club

  9. They picked 5 instead of 4 because some of them are surely gonna spend some time in the hospital. xD

  10. First time since 2003/2004 that a La Masia graduate was not the first captain. Luis Enrique was the captain back then. Afterwards it was Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Busquets, Sergi Roberto. Puyol also is the player with most seasons as first captain with 10.

I tried to find the last time no La Masia graduates were the captains but couldn’t find it. Araujo is considered home grown but he was never in La Masia, he went straight to the B team.
