Sudan’s military government, which retreated to Port Sudan after losing control of the capital Khartoum, is under increasing pressure from neighboring Arab states–particularly Egypt and Saudi Arabia–to sign a ceasefire with the paramilitary RSF and end the ongoing civil war through political means. This pressure, however, does not seem to be working as the Port Sudan regime has turned to Iran for assistance.
