  1. *Nature* is a British weekly scientific journal.

‘**Eton Rural District** was a rural district in the administrative county of Buckinghamshire, England, covering an area in the south-east of the county. It was named after but did not contain Eton, which was an urban district.’

  2. Midges. I wonder what the amount of time was before these “larvae” emerged after the gelatinous mass was first observed. The gel could have been a slime mould that had a rapid explosion of growth and midge larvae could have been in the water that was eventually dumped on that area. A waterspout over freshwater could have been how they ended up there.
