Went for a holiday to Norfolk for the first time this year. Deffo booking to go back on a boat.
Stunning photo.
The most relaxing holiday I ever had, bar none, was floating around the Norfolk Broads on a boat. The only decision you have to make each day is what pub to moor up close to before it gets dark.
I had a crap holiday in Norfolk this summer. It was my fault, I mis-read the brochure and spent a week going around the Norfolk b-roads
We hired a day boat as a day out from our North Norfolk holiday last week and I am kind of sold on the idea of a boating holiday next time. Had a school residential on a wherry on the Broads 25 years ago and the memories still live strong.
I’M ON A BOAT !
Waterway to have a good time.
Love Norfolk.
With a dog, Holkham beach is unbeatable the estate is great too.
With a primary age child there’s so many diversions and places to go.
And just as a place to go – I love Norfolk.
(Met my wife when she lived in Suffolk, so most of East Anglia is a happy place to me)
Shhh, don’t tell everyone, they’ll all want to come here!
Great memories of the annual Norfolk Broads school trip where all the teachers got shithouse the entire week and were a great laugh. Until a couple of us boys got caught on the girls boat after bedtime and got confined to a bedroom for the last day.
Just came back last weekend with 2 of my oldest mates . One of the best weekends I’ve had . Same as you booking for next year
Partridge you wanker!
Is that the mooring near the lion inn by any chance ?
Lol I’m 38 now, but instead of some greek island for my 21st me and some mates rented a long boat and acted like completely knobheads for a week, we disregard the speed limit and went about 12 knots, would “ghost ride the whip” (have no one at the wheel and stand on the roof), and attempted to navigate tidal rivers while the tide was out (that didn’t work so well)
We also played a lot of card games drank a lot of rum, watched a lot of birds, and I’m pretty sure litterially no one noticed our absolute disregard for the rules.
Was great 10/10.
This was pretty much my holiday most years as a kid. I’ve lost count of how many boats my parents hired. They loved it so much, they have now retired and live a stones throw from the Norfolk broads. And still occasionally hire a boat for a week!!
I’ve great memories from holidays along the Norfolk Broads with my grandparents and parents.
Fantastic ones include: – Nan fell off the boat onto the dock with her face landing directly in some goose shit (she was ok if but a little smelly) – My grandad drove right into kid’s a sailing club practices session, causing many to capsize. – My grandad taking a wrong turn and getting stuck in some reeds – had to be rescued. – My dad ‘accidentally’ hit my grandad in the head with a rowing ore. – I accidentally drove right through a fisherman’s line and he shouted at me that I was a bastard.
And lots for kids – ROARR! BeWILDerwood, and the seals at Horsey Gap.
My parents dragged a very bored teenage me on these holidays every year. I was so fucking bored and didn’t appreciate it at all.
Now, at the add of 44, I fully appreciate the appeal of it.
