We left a lot of rings up in Atlanta; they’re still there almost 30 years later. I think it’s a lovely reminder of history.
I doubt this is true. It might be there maybe for another month or two but it’s definitely coming down. The tower is iconic by itself and the rings while were cool is not part of it.
I like this for now and if France later decides to take them down, it’s ok.

If the tower is majority owned by the city, and the mayor wishes this to be the case, then they will remain. But a mayor is not permanent.

To be fair they’ve been trying to put the rings on the tower for a while now. (This is from my only trip to Paris, back in 2005…)
It’s like if that decision was Anne Hidalgo’s masterplan so the entire world can see her as the Parisians already see her: a well intentioned lunatic
was the lights a temporary thing years ago? They looked so cool they decided to keep them. The rings are awesome, keep them up until LA in 28.
Who cares? The Paris Olympics were fantastic. It will be a cool reminder until they decide it’s no longer permanent. I dig it
