Scale of Ukraine’s strikes on Russia suggests an escalation in its military power: Analysis

Russia says it’s stopped a ‘massive’ Ukrainian air attack overnight by downing 158 drones in 15 regions, including two over Moscow.
An oil refinery near the city was hit. No casualties were reported.

Russia says five of the Ukrainian drones were downed in the Tver region, northwest of Moscow.
Posts on Telegram show a fire at the Konakov Power Station.

Ukraine also launched attacks in Russia’s Belgorod region.
One person was wounded and 12 apartment buildings damaged.

Meanwhile, Ukraine says two people have been killed and 10 injured in a Russian attack on a house in the eastern Kharkiv region.
The strike on the village of Cherkaska Lozova sparked a major fire.
The army says the eastern city of Nikopol was also targeted.
Russia and Ukraine have intensified cross-border attacks, since Ukrainian forces launched an offensive on the Kursk region in August.

Pavel Felgenhauer is a defence analyst and columnist for Novaya Gazeta.
He says the scale of Ukraine’s strikes on Russia suggests an escalation in its military power.

  2. Still waiting for the moment where Russia has allowed all of this as a means to escalate the confrontation…

I pray I'm wrong about this.

  3. Al Jazeera's reporting is LIES. They defraud the innocent Islamics. Every Western reporter, including The Enforcer, prove the drones have been a MAJOR SUCCESS. AJ ignores the truth. Maybe AJ is biased towards Russia???

  4. I once saw the Japanese film director Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece "Seven Samurai." The villagers fight to protect their village with the help of seven volunteer samurai against a group of ruthless raiders, and ultimately win. I think it's very similar to the current battles in Ukraine.

  5. I don't why Ukrainian have waited so long to attack Russian energy infrastructure and key military systems they shouldn't wait for US to lift ban on it weapons but rather they should use what they have to get what they want

  6. Ending of the UKRAINE WAR?
Sadly the number one matter to consider is what is REALISTIC for a lasting peaceful future in central Europe! Russia have been cheated and lied to many times, starting with POTUS Reagan promise to "Gorbi" NOT to expand US-NATO in response to the dismantling of the opposing Soviet Warsaw pact. Fact is that USA have meddled in Ukrainian politics to destroy a neutral democratic Ukrainian government and install a obedient US vassal dictatorship under Zelensky that have continued to lie and cheat and murder ethnic Russians that have lived in Eastern Ukraine for 1,000's years.

The peace that will predictably last is that Ukraine end up transformed into a land-locked "rump-state" and what once was Russian territory is returned to Russia. Also what was historically once Polish and Hungarian territories are lopped off Ukraine and returned to Poland and Hungary.
That will work for a lasting peace in central Europe, especially for the surviving Ukrainian Nazis hiding in remaining "rump-Ukraine". Then the US managed NATO must be dismantled and Europe is allowed to take care of its own military defence and diplomatic relations without foreign interference. The new β€œMulti-Power World Order” must include a free and sovereign Europe.

  7. Just wait until winter. The Russians will be safe and warm inside their homes apartments and dachas, and the Ukrainians will be turning into Popsicles. Courtesy of the Collective West.

  8. Russia makes sweeping gains in Pokrovsk Ukraine Military Logistics hub, whilst Ukraine commits troops to its Kursk incursion

Zelensky was hoping the offensive in Kirsk would divert Russia's troops from the important Posrovsk and Kurakhove regions,
that objective has failed, on the contrary, Russia has sent additional troops to these areas quickening their advance

Ukraine's landmark cross-border incursion into Kursk has slowed significantly as it faces stiff Russian resistance, without Russian troops being deployed from other regions, defeating Ukraine's intention to force Russian troops from the Pokovsk region

  9. You want to understand that Ukraine had invaded mother Russia πŸ‡·πŸ‡Ί
This is the first ground invasion of Russian motherland since the Nazis invaded the Soviet Union on Sunday June 22nd, 1941 πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ

  10. NATO is crossing Russia's red line.If they think that by crossing this red line, they will get away without any action by Russia then they are living in a fool's paradise.
