Thomas Wandschneider (the man on the first pic) was planning to retire from parabadminton over a decade ago but decided to continue after he learned that parabadminton will be in Tokyo 2020. Unable to get past the group in Tokyo, he bounced back by winning world championships in 2022. Played the longest Paralympic badminton match ever (103 minutes) in Paris and finally win the coveted Paralympic medal at 60 years old.
And now he doesn’t plan retiring anytime soon. What an icon.
