  1. That’s 2500 pounds sterling per grenade. No idea how expensive those shells are but presuming they come from a former buyer of Russian military equipment that might have them in stock or can produce them, plus transport and other monetary issues, the price doesn’t seem that bad.

  2. The most basic 155mm HE Shell costs $3000, £2500 for 152mm seems perfectly reasonable.

Excalibur, the most expensive artillery round costs $100,000 per round.

  3. What a time to be in the manufacturing of tools to kill people business. Hard to see how we’ll ever incentivize peace.

  4. Of all the things they could be spending taxpayers’ money on, keeping the West Free is worth every penny.

  6. It costs the US $3k per shell for the current standard 155 mm HE shell with propellent and fuse, so £2.5k for a 152 mm shell is right on target. Unlike the US, most NATO countries source their ammunition from commercial sources, and prices for those have risen to as much as €8k per shell.

  7. 300 million in a subsidy to boost defence manufacturing capabilities in Europe seems like a very good idea given current global geopolitical conditions.

  8. 2500 doesn’t seem like much when you look at the early years and see how much Russian artillery has been used.

  9. Russia is producing 250000 artillery shells per month. We need to step up our game in a big way. “We stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes.” Isn’t doing it.
