  1. Why would Russia let these companies shut shop and end the jobs of thousands of Russians? It’s not like many of these companies were doing something exceptional that Russian employees can’t continue doing on their own. If Levis shut shop in Russia, the person who took over can just continue importing the exact same clothes with a new tag from vendors in Bangladesh.

Also, isn’t this exactly same as this.

    [Germany nationalizes former Gazprom subsidiary](https://www.dw.com/en/germany-nationalizes-former-gazprom-subsidiary/a-63754453)

    >The decision is meant to safeguard Germany’s energy security. Poland has also announced it will take over Russia’s Gazprom assets in the country. The new company, previously Gazprom Germania, is called Securing Energy for Europe GmbH (SEFE).

    >Poland on Monday similarly announced that it would take over Russia’s 48% stake in Europolgaz, which owns the Polish section of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline.

I remember this story because India had a deal with Gazprom Germania to supply us with natural gas. And India expected Germany to continue honouring the deal after they seized the company. At the end of last year, the Indian company filed a $1.8 Billion claim for breach of contract.

  2. Play stupid games, like setting up a business in a comically corrupt autocracy that’s in the middle of an imperialists expansion phase, and win stupid prizes, like having your shit taken when he launches a brutal war to reclaim their colonial holding and and up killing or maiming well north of half a million people.

    I have zero sympathy.

My feelings are exactly the same for the companies that are going to lose all their shit when China decides to conduct its imperial expansion to conquer its former colony.
