I honestly thought Millets ceased to exist about 8 years ago.
All outdoor clothing stores seem to have a never-ending sale.
It’s JD sports that owns all of them
If a sports place isn’t owned by ~~Sports Direct~~ Frasers Group it’s probably owned by JD Sports. That includes Millets, Blacks and Go Outdoors: https://www.jdplc.com/our-brands/sporting-goods-and-outdoor/default.aspx. If you look very carefully in these big chains you might find a small rack of full price clothing at the back. In a few weeks time it will be reduced and be replaced by something else. There are rules about what a “sale” is but they’re fairly easy to get round.
They all work this way. They run products for the bare minimum of time at a higher price and then they go in “sale”.
They don’t even need to be in the same store at the higher price.
Let me introduce you to DFS my friend…
I’m waiting for their December sale: “Now is the winter of our discount tents.”
Our high Street hasn’t been the same since they carried out the threat and actually closed down about 10 years ago
It’s probably broken merch after a man with a mullet went mad with a mallet there.
I used to work for a very similar company, most of their stores are in a permanent 50% off or closing down sale. They would let their contract expire so they could do a closing down sale. Tell all the staff they don’t know if they are staying open, but they always did. Us managers then had to re-hire because all the PT staff had left.
Never buy something from them full price. Just wait two weeks while they price establish then it’ll get reduced.
They would then have the cheek to celebrate the 50% staff discount. But not on already reduced items of course.
I was an international student who got his bag torn at the airport and i went to their Leicester City centre store and got a bag for myself and it is amazing, the staff there were quite friendly as well and the store was well-kept as well. Hope they stay in business!
The last time I even saw a Millets must have been 10 years ago and it had a clearance sale on then.
“THERE’S A MAN WITH A MULLET GOING MAD WITH A MALLET IN MILLETS!!!!!”
Our local Millets has had “CLOSING DOWN” banners across the windows for (what seemed like) years.
Was quite surprised it had actually closed completely the other week and is now an empty unit.
There’s a Mountain Warehouse in Padstow that’s had a closing sale for maybe 15 years now
I worked at my local Millets briefly and the manager said they were in a constant state of not knowing if they were closing down or not, so they pretty much always had some sort of closing down sale on.
Wait, is this plymouth?
Lowestoft?
Andover Millets has been having a closing down sale for 8 years
Trespass for us…
Technically selling anything is clearing the warehouse.
Ours had a closing down sale and amazingly it did actually shut.
Reopened as a ‘Go Outdoors Express’ a week later with exact same stock, labels, prices.
Wait until you hear about DFS…
Most shops that sell seasonal stuff have sales most of the time to clear stock that doesn’t match the current season.
Millets is seasonal
Quick, Levis, 36.
Now is their winter of discount tents
Lowestoft????
I’ve always assumed looking at the stock in them that Millets is a clearance store for Blacks and Blacks is a clearance store for Tiso. Tiso keeps the big expensive brands but the cheaper stuff appears in Blacks a month or so later then makes its way to Millets for a final clearance sale.
