What’s a jail in Greenland like? I’m guessing it’s very minimum security or possibly house arrest. All serious criminals would be sent to Denmark to spend time.
The Northwest Territories in Canada does have a Min/Med prison for a small population and limited stay (not close to 10 years) but serious cases are sent south in an agreement with Alberta to spend time in that province.
