  1. The data includes information only on fully electric vehicles (BEV); PHEV, FEV, and other types were not considered. Notes: 1) The sales of electric vehicles under the Mitsubishi brand are included in Renault-Nissan statistics. 2) Sales data for SGMW (SAIC – General Motors – Wuling) do not include GM electric vehicle sales (e.g., Chevrolet Volt), even though in the data source they are combined.

  2. BEV stats without PHEVs are more valuable than stats with PHEVs.

However, wouldn’t it be cool if the pie chart was sliced in order of share?

  3. Should probably be noted that it’s global sales. I think I’ve seen just a single BYD here in Europe, and quite a few more BMWs than 4% sounds like.

  4. Always sort data from largest to smallest before making a pie chart. You can still keep Other last but the pies should get smaller as you go around.

  5. BYD is almost as big as Tesla and I haven’t heard of them until one picked me up in Bangkok.

  6. Is there a way to see the same statistics just without the chinese market? Because I assume that most of the chinese ev makers sell their cars in China and not globally.

  7. Looking for GM / Chevrolet on this chart felt like a Where’s Waldo. I found “Great Wall Motors”, and “Chery”.

  8. I find it interesting that the largest car maker in the world is missing from this chart. They did/do so well on hybrids but continue to miss the mark on BEV’s. I think they’ve finally come to the realization that hydrogen is not going to be the answer. There are so many good BEV’s coming to market over the next couple of years, but Toyota has hardly anything interesting.

  9. All western brands went for the luxury market and now they lose a huge amount of market share to the Chinese who do offer budget options

  10. Hard to tell but I think you have the wrong logo for SAIC Motors. The logo used is for the American government contractor company Science Applications International Corporation.

I think you are looking for the Chinese company https://www.saicmotor.com

I only noticed because I used to work for the American company and was surprised to see the name here.

  11. You should not be allowed to own one if you don’t own a home with a charging port. The lines be crazy.
