Almost buried the little fella. It's was safely put next the the pond.

  1. This is a protected species and you should really just leave them to it, rather than handling them for social media.

    We don’t even have a pond but the number of young frogs and newts we’ve found out the back garden this last week is sky high. Guess the wet weather in Scotland has allowed them to flourish.

    What happens when the winter finally comes, do they just die due to the cold ?

  3. Happy guy taking a stroll. Leave her in the damp undergrowth & he’ll be even happier. It’s a young lady smooth newt. Quite common. Eats bugs in your garden. Mostly live on the land until it’s spring & time to get it on, then they find a pond.

  4. i’ve only ever found 2 as a kid in our garden. They are super rare and very cool to find. the two i found were hiding in a old half-used ton bag of sand with the edge folded down.
