That’s incredible. My local independent baker charges £1.20 for a cupcake and £2 for everything else.
Is a Belgian bun *allowed* to have cream in the middle?
This does remind me of a bakery I stumbled across in Leominster, Herefordshire, which also hadn’t updated its prices since about 1989. Took me right back
Damn, they look like good ones as well

Could they please replace the bakery in my local railway station that sells £4 croissants?
Ours charges about double those prices.
i need to know where for ~~science~~ …fat fuck reasons
75p for a gingerman tho 😧
Ok that’s got me in the mood to bake & eat some still-warm cheese scones – OP you’re a terrible influence on my belly!
Yeah but it’s a certain “type” of bakery. Super local bakeries doing things in a very local English way. Whilst it’s not THIS cheap, I do have one near me in SE London doing similar stuff for similar prices. And then funnily enough, there is a fancy patisserie one block away, that does a pastry for a fiver! 😱 Both equally busy, just different clientele
Reminds me of the time I stopped going to my local bakery. They had a sign up stating all cakes were £1. I went in and bought 5 cakes and I was charged £10. I was incredulous, pointing at the signage everywhere that states the cakes were £1 and I am only paying £5. The lady looked me dead in the eye and said ” sorry love, those are Madeira cakes you’ve bought”.
Where are you? The 90s?
Prices like that would have me on the diabetes road in a matter of months.
At those prices I’m buying the whole lot! Worth the sugar coma / probable diabetes
Look at them massive eclairs!I remember an episode of that show that did shop make overs (Mary Portas?). She went into a bakery like this and slagged it off for having ‘downmarket’ and ‘dated’ vibes. Made them start selling croissants at £3.50 a pop or some such. Don’t get me wrong, i like a croissant, but i also love this stuff. Sadly these shops are a dying breed. I haven’t had a Devon Split in years.
Ahhh, that cream filled Devon Split…. I should call her.
I’ll take it all please.
I was thinking about this today. I went to a local bakery and the plain croissant was £2.45 and the ham and cheese one £5.65. Same for Pret croissants, too expensive for a coffee shop chain
Depends on the quality.
Cream slice and a choccie eclair please! I’ll wire you the moneyzzz!
How olds this pic?
That apple turnover with cream looks fucking magnificent
But Donuts with cheap icing on are a luxury item and should be at least £3 each.
During Wimbledon, I purchased custard tarts, strawberries, & clotted cream & created an addiction.
My local bakery doesn’t sell anything for less than £1. Fresh rolls are 60p for a non-speciality one.
Those eclairs look massive as well, considering 2 in Tesco are £1-1:50 depending on offers that’s very good value. The Bakewell slices look good as well, 2 tarts are £2-3 in shops as well lol. They could definitely be charging more but probably don’t out of fear of losing customers to the big chains
I like the fake cream, the one that doesn’t need refrigeration
I don’t know how they’re making any money with costs of ingredients these days and uncapped business energy costs.
Baking as a hobby is sooo expensive these days because of food costs.
There is no way this was taken recently.
The world is healing
Decisions, decisions I maybe a while deciding.. 🍰
Good value but I bet the staff are being paid peanuts on those prices. That or the cream is actually 60% tile grout.
I like how the one product that actually might do you the tiniest bit of good is 15p more expensive than almost everything else.
Where is that 1998?
I’d kill for one of those 85p carrot cake slices
Even Dr David Banner would approve of those prices
