Everyone expected it to be a terrible signing at that time, but it turned out surprisingly well. Much appreciated Paulinho
Paulinho for some reason reminds me of a filler character in an anime that’s not part of the main story. Enjoyed his stint.
He was so good out of nothing for us. To me, a true streets won’t forget player
Just looked back at the post from when we signed him. Someone said this: “With 220m + Paulinho money, you could have bought Seri, Coutinho and Dembele if the board was competent. Three players for the future. But no, they sign a 29 year old guy who flopped everywhere but in fucking China.”
With 115 upvotes. You couldn’t possibly have been more wrong lmao.
Reminder that valverde had the great idea of leaving Paulinho on the bench for the whole Roma match while substituying iniesta for fkn Denis Suarez, what a horrible choice
Loved him, he proved everyone wrong that season
Came for 40 million, sold for 42 million
Understood his role, Messi trusted him with the ball, outscored Ronaldo in the first half of the season
Debut goal was an 84th minute winner
Great player for the club and good business all around, happy retirement!
I honestly loved him for us. Always put in a shift and did what he was good at. Never tried to complicate things needlessly.
Still think it must have been something shady going on when Bartomeu managed to sell him back to the same club he came from for more money after one season.
One of the best sleeper signings. This dude made a lot of people including myself eat their words.
