  1. Congrats! Love a good second-hand bookshop – nothing beats it 😌

Hope you start building yourself a nice set of regulars, and good luck 💖

  2. I wish you every success, Hereford is a lovely city and we need more second-hand bookshops!

  3. I wanted to open up my own book shop focusing on sci-fi, fantasy and genre fiction at one point.

I wanted a big neon sign to go in the window saying “Books, books, books’.

  4. When you enter every morning you have to say quietly to yourself ‘Bookmasters’ in the style of ‘Popmaster’.

  5. Congratulations!

Have you got a shelf with 20 copies of The Da Vinci Code and Fifty Shades of Grey yet?

  6. I’ve always had a dream of having a second hand bookshop that’s also a mini coffee shop/library so people can sit and read, have a snack or a drink and don’t always have to buy. It would be open late sometimes too so people can come and have a hot chocolate and a quiet read on a dark winters evening..

Anyway.. congratulations on your achievement. If you want to do the cafe/late night library thing that’s cool with me

  7. Oh my goodness what an absolute dream- I’m so jealous!

You need the no sign from black books up. No wigwams. No snoity car. None of that, or any of the others.

  8. Be honest….

Do you go through the donated books and have “first dibbs” on the cool ones and read them before they go on the shelves?

I’d like to think that any bibliophile would do that 😆

  9. 2nd hand bookshops make money buying books not selling them. Also don’t take in loads and loads of junk books as it’s just more for you to handle/lose money on.

You can do local bootfiars on Sunday mornings to dump all the children’s books cheap.

    Good luck.

  10. My dream was to be a pilot.

I’m not a pilot. I hate my job.

Enjoy your dream; I will live vicariously through you.

    Congrats 🥰

  11. Well don! Congrats. My wife’s dream is a second-hand book shop come wine bar come coffee shop come somewhere mum’s can take kids and chill ha.

  12. Congratulations and very good luck! I really hope we start to see a trend back to independent bookshops.

  13. 80% genuine question, 20% rhetorical: how important is it for all your bookshelves to be in alphabetical order? Maybe people aren’t that bothered and just like to browse at random, but I’d have thought you’d at least want all the books by the same author adjacent to each other.
