Olmo and Pedri played at the Euros and Olympics in 2021. Before that they NEVER had a major injury at all.

  1. Some people have been saying that they’re just ‘made out of glass’, but I think there’s more to it. It’s not a coincidence that this happened at the same time, before they never had a major injury.

If our young players keep getting pushed to play so much, it’s very likely this will happen again.

  2. Pedri was very young, so this could possibly be a huge factor. But I think Olmo’s injury history isn’t visible here because he was at Dinamo Zagreb. Look at the number of games he played each season for them. He was definitely injury prone back then too.

  3. I really think the impact of Covid on muscle injuries hasn’t been studied enough. It’s been a massive surge in muscle injuries since that time.

  4. Pedri was definitely overplayed like a gulag prisoner at a young age but AFAIK Olmo has always been injury prone

  5. Number of games played increases—-rest days decreased—- S&C work shifts from increasing performance and injury prevention to maintaining playing form —- not enough recovery time—-off season shortened even further —- not enough rest =more injuries.

Workloads on individual players increase rest time decrease discovery time decrease and having a proper off-season to develop the physical side of the game. Decrease. Every major team is dealing with injury issues.
