  1. 638,140 personnel losses

    Population of Russia: 144,820,423

    Almost 0.4% of the population

Greater than the populations of most cities in the world.

Greater than the population of Suriname, Malta, Iceland, etc.

    Goodness.

Russia ain’t so full of itself now.

  2. The activity of the Russian army on the front lines remains at the same level as previous days.

    – Very conflicting information continues to emerge from the Kursk area. Even Russian bloggers tend to believe that the Russian army’s counteroffensive has now ended. Information about the extent of Russian forces’ success varies greatly. Yesterday, Ukrainian units captured Russian soldiers in an area that, according to reports from previous days, should be under Russian control. Confusion is also likely caused by Ukrainian special forces operating over a wide area directly in the Russian army’s rear. Observers, who measure meters on maps with magnifying glasses, cannot decide where the troops are actually located.

    – A few days ago, the Russian army lost some positions in Vovchansk city on the Kharkiv front but has not been able to organize more serious attacks to regain them. Currently, the Russian army is not attempting major attacks on the Kharkiv front and is rather aiming to tie down Ukrainian forces in this area.

    – Active attacks continue in the direction of Lyman and Kupyansk cities, but there are no significant changes in the front line. Russian army attacks on the Siversk front are not active.

    – In the Bakhmut area, the activity of the Russian army has slightly increased, and attacks south of Chasiv Yar have brought some success. Battles continue on the eastern outskirts of Toretsk city, but Russian units have not made significant advancements.

    – Intense pressure continues on the Pokrovsk front, and the Russian army is gradually improving its positions at certain points. The most active attacks are west and southwest of Donetsk, where the attacker has managed to move forward slightly in some places. Pressure in the Vuhledar area has slightly decreased.

    – Yesterday, there were more reconnaissance battle-like attempts at advancements on the southern front, but the situation remains unchanged. Continued fighting on the eastern bank of the Dnipro has resulted in considerable losses for Russia without achieving any gains.
