It is all about Donbass. Russia annexed that first because that is Putin’s major goal: the massive reserves of lithium in Donbass (approx 10% of planet resources).
I think Russia would probably accept a withdrawal if allowed to keep Donbass.
Otherwise I don’t think the war will end until Putin (and his legacy) dies.
