IFL reposts this every so often and it came up again today (on FB), so it seems like a good time for a reminder. You also have to love how this post is so misleading and most of the commenters miss a vitally important element of this experiment, every time they post it, which isn’t mentioned until the end of the article: how a tiny portion of the population hoarded the resources and left very little for others which was the major factor in the downfall.
The exact thing that Capitalism does, concentrate wealth / resources into the hands of a small portion.
Holy crap humanity is definitely screwed. Bring on the apocalypse
I think its a good article. Calhouns observations on crowding and the effects of psychological stress it induces are important concepts to consider as we progress through an increasingly interconnected civilization. The article does a good job of summarizing the highlights of this fascinating study.
