Sky News tracks luxury cars still getting to Russia despite sanctions over Ukraine war

After Russia invaded Ukraine, countries across the world, including the UK, introduced huge economic sanctions on the country.

Despite that, Sky News has uncovered evidence that luxury British cars are still being sold to Russians.

Sky’s Economics and Data editor Ed Conway tracked some of these high-end cars to the Georgia-Russia border in the Caucasus mountains.

  1. European car manufacturers are facing low sales so they're incentivized to sell cars to neighboring countries of Russia knowing full well that they're going to Russia. Ideology can't beat hard cash.

  2. And we’re still getting Russian oil and gas through the back door at four times the price we were paying before. But it’s the Russians who are suffering from the sanctions we imposed!!

  3. Fixing these modern junks is expenssive as it with access to parts and a dealer diagnostic computer, can't imagine what repairs are going to be like in Russia it gonna be a nightmare to who ever is left holding these hot potatoes.

  4. He has been trying to solve this puzzle for months?…and calls himself a journalist? This has been in the open ffeom day one…and your governments know about it. And if they want to stop it, they would have but they need Russian buyers 😄

  5. It's true what the politician in Slovakia recently said, the whole of Europe does business with Russia, they just don't want to make it known. They're all just hypocrites.

  6. I swear man,Sanctioned Luxury Cars are going exported to Russia via Parallel Imports from Georgia and Azerbaijan.Imagine buying Land Rover in Tomsk from Azerbaijan or Georgia via parallel imports that's absolute nonsense.I mean basically buying Range Rover Velar and Evoque in Siberia which via Parallel Imports from Georgia and Azerbaijan.

  7. Ha! 3 quarters of the world are not following the sanctions, Russia's economy is the strongest growing economy in Europe too. Conversely, it is Germany, UK, America who's economies are struggling because of this proxy war. The neo cons have utterly failed.

  8. Aren't there more important topics to discuss than the sale of cars to Russia? At the end of the day, it’s simply business, and private buyers will continue to purchase luxury vehicles regardless of the imposed sanctions.

  9. And the western world was all over their head when India was buying oil from Russia… Meanwhile they themselves put on white gloves over their black hand

  10. With sanction both sides loses in terms of business…uk dealers would have make a lot of money if there were no sunction…the government loses on taxes and the smugglers get rich…

  11. Well, the Range Rover is owned by Tartar, an Indian corporation. Surely, if the Russians want to buy Range Rover, the Indians are easy, business-driven, and friendly too
