  1. Feels like more is missing from this.

Laptop stuff is clearly wrong but people shouldn’t be arrested for throwing a sicky, that’s what the disciplinary process is for.

Also going sick doesn’t prevent travel. I had a month off with a nervous breakdown and we still went on our previously planned long weekend to the lakes.

  2. Surely this bit is the bigger issue:

    >PC Khan then got a third party to access his (police) laptop at home to submit the sickness form on his behalf and send a confirmation email to his line manager, the IOPC added.

  3. Calling in sick was the real problem but that he gave access to his laptop to another person so they could impersonate him and submit the absence/ sick leave notification. This would ensure disciplinary action in most jobs but is especially serious when someone has access to sensitive information.

  4. “The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said suspicions had been raised after PC Khan reported sick”

    What was suspicious exactly?

  5. Wasting time and resources arresting him at the airport. Why not just wait and interview him voluntarily upon his return?
