  1. FIDE held a vote this week to end Russia’s suspension, which fortunately got defeated and now IOC executive makes this statement. Looks like the cheques have started getting cleared again

  2. I said this the other day: there is zero chance that Russia will miss FIFA26 and LA28.. they pad too many pockets and it’s been long enough for the grifters. They are ready to be bought.

  3. They are suspended for state wide cheating and aggression. As their leader is personally responsible for BOTH of these, I fail to see how there can be any discussion.

Eventually they should be allowed back but long after Putin has gone, with all their troops removed from Ukraine and a strict testing policy independently verified…

  4. >> He stressed that Russia had not been suspended for invading Ukraine, but “because it had not respected the Olympic truce” by starting the war in 2022, just as the Beijing Olympics ended and before the Paralympic Games.

This is bonkers… so it’s okay to invade another nation as long as you don’t do it during the Olympics?

This dickhead would’ve been perfectly happy with the 1940 Olympics going ahead with Nazi Germany competing.
