Ukraine struck Russia with British Storm Shadow missiles for the first time

The Ukrainian Armed Forces may have used British long-range Storm Shadow missiles for strikes against Russia for the first time, Russian Z-channels claim.

Missiles with a range of up to 300 km, which Ukraine has been receiving since 2023 but can only use in combat operations on its territory, were “shot down” over the village of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky in the Rostov region, Romanov Light Telegram channel wrote.
İt is also reported on the alleged destruction of Storm Shadow. Romanov Light suggested that the authorities will not officially confirm the use of British missiles, so as not to devalue Vladimir Putin’s “red lines” once again.

“Treugolnik”, the other Telegram channel also confimed destruction of Storm Shadow over Rostov. But then channel corrected its reports. The channel writes that Ukrainian-made “Neptune” missiles, which had previously been used to strike the area around the Crimean Bridge, as well as oil depots in the Krasnodar Territory, were shot down over Kamensk-Shakhtinsky.

Ukraine last week handed over to Western countries a list of possible targets for strikes deep into Russia, which could use either Storm Shadow or American ATACMS missiles, whose range for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is currently limited to a radius of 165 km. According to Reuters sources, the list included command centers, fuel and weapons depots, as well as places where Russian army personnel are concentrated.

According to the American Institute for the Study of War, in the event of a positive decision for Kiev, at least 245 Russian military facilities, as well as 9 large cities with a total population of almost 5 million people, could be in the zone of destruction of Ukrainian strikes. Among them are two million-plus cities: Rostov-on-Don, population 1.14 million people and Voronezh,1.046 million.
However, so far, no decision has been made on long-range strikes: on September 16, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller, summing up the meeting between President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Kier Starmer, said that the United States is not yet ready to lift restrictions on Ukraine’s use of long-range weapons to strike Russian targets. Until now the Storm Shadow missiles have been limited to Russian targets operating inside Ukraine, as well as in occupied Crimea. The missiles were likely used in the largest Ukrainian attack on the headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea fleet last year at Sevastopol.

  22. This news (about the storm shadows) has not been confirmed or verified so might not be true. But, I hope it is true. It's high time the west removed all limits to usage of their long range weapons in Russia. LET UKRAINE DO WHAT THEY THINK IS BEST. They know Russia, they know the territory and, above all, they know how Russia works. Trust Ukraine and let them win.

  26. All this talk about Ukraine having to consider giving up some of their land to achieve peace is disgusting. The people of Vietnam and Afghanistan didn't toss in the towel. They fought hard and kicked out more powerful invaders. The people of Ukraine have that same courage and will overcome the illegal invasion and destruction of their country. The dithering, hand-wringing and waffle by the political elite of most NATO countries, does not inspire much confidence in that organization’s capacity to ever be able to defend Europe against invading armies.

The War doctrine will escalate the use of conventional weapons that SMO do not use. These weapons have the ability to desyroy Kiev in 3 minutes and Europe Cities in 5. NATO can not win a conventional war against Russia and that is the reason USA cannot aprove of missiles to hit deep into Russia that will triger Russia to use non muclear response.
