But we don’t care about facts!

  1. That is why the convicted felon and rapist coined the term “fake news.”

By coining the term and applying it to the factual news he directed attention from the false propaganda sources that were propping him up

  2. [Here’s a news source](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna96536), the story is only slightly more subtle. 97% of stories on Facebook determined to be false were seen by more right wing users than left wing users.

Since Facebook skews conservative, some of this is just the platform. But it’s too dramatic to be just that.

Regardless, we should always be on guard against misinformation. That means checking sources before sharing, and not sharing “jokes” which less informed users might think are real. Sharing misinformation, regardless of slant or bias, helps people undermine reality-based decisions.

  3. Depends on what you mean by “fake news”.

If you mean “stories proclaiming to be news, but describing something that never happened and masquerading as a news organization but actually not,” then yeah. Sure. Under that definition, it’s right-wing.

But if you mean “any news that makes Trump look bad” as he uses it, then no.

  4. People who fall victim to phishing scams so dumb it hurts to see and trump supporters are a one circle Venn diagram.

  5. We’re not the ones that believe that cow farts will end the world 🤷. I’ll take it.
