I could be a better scammer than this. They sent a text to my phone claiming they don’t have my phone number!

  1. One place I worked, where I was responsible for info security training, my favourite “how to spot a spoofed email address” example was quite convincing, although there were of course signs for the scam-aware. The biggest sign was that it had been sent to me from me.

  2. To be fair, the text says your number was “not reachable”, not that they don’t have it.

They’re suggesting that they tried to deliver something, phoned to let you know but couldn’t get through.

It’s obviously a scam like, but they’re not claiming not to have your number.

  3. I have had two just today, one apparently from netflix asking me to re-enter my payment method, and one for a parking offence. Must be so many people falling for these scams.

  4. Phone number not reachable…meaning no connection when trying to ring, so they ain’t as stupid as you think

Edit: I’m really unsure how op didn’t get that and is convinced. otherwise, they are saying they don’t have op phone number

  5. Your phone numbers not reachable…..well apart from this text message we just reached your phone with

  6. I get these when I order stuff. Like I won’t get one for months and months but 2 weeks ago I ordered some glassware and then I received one of these messages. Coincidence? Maybe, until I ordered some stationary on Monday and got another text on Tuesday. I swear somehow they know you have a parcel coming…

  7. you’ll be surprised at how many people will still fall for this. scammers know they can throw a lazy attempt out and still manage to reel a few vulnerable people in. I work at a bank and the amount of educated, young folk who were in a rush and reply or press links not thinking until afterwards is actually quite worrying. I wish the banks would do more to educate the public on the risks.
